Book 3 of this series has a bit more action as our group of characters takes on the goal of rescuing the young women being used as incubators by a laboratory. The person running that lab is someone Riley thought had been gone a long time ago and whom he used to trust but is now a tyrant general. Rescue plans aren't perfect but success comes with sacrifice and unexpected knowledge of what is has really been going on and who is responsible. The affect of prejudice as a result of media is clearly set out in this book and while part of the story is a lesson readers can appreciate.I would recommend this series for young adults of all genders, but recognize that the story progresses through different perspectives as experienced by our characters. It is emotional and deals with growing up as much as it presents an interesting story.

I sincerely hope this is not the last of this series. Lancer, Brody, Riley and the rest of the gang have entirely too much work left for this to be the end! This was the best in the series thus far, and we learned a lot about things that came before and what makes up these characters. If you haven't yet read the first 2 books, I urge you to do so before reading this one; you'll be lost without doing so.
This author is one of the rare breed that is able to transport readers to another place and time. I enjoyed every minute of these books, and hope I get to read more by Ms. Hardison soon.
I got this book from a special friend so i have to review.. I gave this book 5 stars because I enjoyed reading it, and like Escape and the Cross , it was well written and it hooked me from the beginning. This book doesn't disappoint. I don't have anything negative to say about it.
The characters still pull at my heart. It's just so emotional and fun reading these books. What I really like is that each character or most of them have a chapter for their point of view ( also in previous 2 books) and this allows you to get to know the characters and like them.
And the flash backs , of the past obviously, are so interesting and full of information about the tests on the babies etc.
Each of these books in this Alliance series is well written and thought out, full of action, friendship , loyalty, love and family, so human and forgiveness. They make mistakes and hurt each other but forgive even though it hurts.. we can learn from this.
I'm definitely going to finish reading this series and recommend to anyone who's looking for a good read.. buy it.
Very easy reading. The story had you guessing what was to happen next. I would have liked a up date on the characters lives, like did they find the son.
This series is one of the best I've ever read! It manages to address every big societal issue facing our world today and yet gives hope and humor to the characters, bringing you in to their world. I had a lovely adventure, was moved to tears, anger and to self introspection. Brava, Ms Hardison, brava!!
Thought provoking story with well developed characters . i am looking forward to the sequel if there is going to be one.
Usually ,unless the author is a master story telller, the first book in a series can nevrr be measured up tomin the sequels. Well here we have a real master.Each book is even better than the last. This journey with Riley, Brody, and the other unforgettable characters within has been one of the most emotionally gripping exprriences I've had in my 50 years of reading. I look forward to the enjoyment this author will bring with her writing in the future. Can't wait to read what's next.
I really like these alliance books. All three of them. I love the rawness the honesty in the emotions. The only thing, I can't imagine these as young adults. I guess that's why the hugs and love seem to work. If they where adults it just wouldn't do. I love all the characters I love the humanity. I like how it's written thru different eyes and emotions. Well written, great plot, great characters, great verbiage ( I hate a good book but the talking is pathetic. Not in this series) you won't be disappointed
